Korczak
Director: Andrzej Wajda
1990
In the mid-1930s, Janusz Korczak (W. Pszoniak) is forced to end his popular radio program for children. However, he continues to run the Warsaw Orphanage, but the entry of Nazi troops into Warsaw shakes the everyday life of the orphanage. The institution begins to face the brutal reality of the occupation, where at first one must fight for each day, and later—only to preserve humanity in the face of death. Korczak, known as the "Old Doctor," does not abandon the principles he has remained faithful to throughout his life. Until his final moments, he feels responsible for his wards, placing their safety and dignity above his own.
