The film tells the story of former female prisoners who, after the war, try to continue their life together, based on the friendship born in a Nazi camp. Three women, bound by a strong bond of shared experiences, plan to stay together in freedom as well, but it quickly becomes clear that each of them copes differently with the post-war reality. Maria wishes to erase the camp nightmare from her memory as soon as possible and, upon hearing of her husband’s death, becomes involved with another man. The youngest, Celina, experiences her first love and decides to live independently. The hardest to find her way is Helena—the most war-affected—who has lost not only the years spent in the camp but also her faith in humanity, after her beloved and admired resistance leader turned out to be a traitor and provocateur.
